World Premiere announced for Sligo International Chamber Music Festival this May bank holiday weekend
Sligo Arts Office are delighted to announce a world premiere performance at Midday on May Day 2017. Gerald Barry’s Midday, for two string quartets, was written in response to a co-commission by RTÉ and Sligo County Council and will be performed by The Vogler Quartet and RTÉ Contempo Quartet. The composer describes the music as ‘…standing still in the landscape, listening, watching, waiting.’ This concert at Drumcliffe Church, which will be recorded for future broadcast on RTÉ lyric fm, will open with an interview between composer Gerald Barry and Michael Dungan.
Now in its eighteenth year Sligo International Chamber Music Festival, formerly Music in Drumcliffe, has become one of Ireland’s leading international chamber music festivals and is now a highlight in the annual calendar of music events.
