
Sligo County Council, in association with the offices of Creative Ireland 2017 – 2022, with support from the Department of Arts, Heritage Regional Rural & Gaeltacht affairs, and the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government, wishes to build on the success of community engagement and participation in marking the Centenary Year.
Creative Ireland 2017 – 2022, a National Initiative emanating from the 1916 Centenary Legacy, aims to develop, coordinate and deliver a programme for 2017, along with the production of a five year dedicated Culture and Creativity Plan for each Local Authority to be published by October 2017. Enabling creativity in every community is a core pillar to the Creative Ireland Programme which will place our culture and our creative capacity at the centre of public policy in many instances involving considerable Volunteer effort .
It is proposed to hold a Creative Ireland event on Easter Monday the 17th April 2017 (Cruinniú na Cásca) and in the future to develop a major cultural event on this date around the theme of Citizenship which will be incorporated into the Co. Sligo Culture and Creativity Plan.
A Public Consultation Session on the Creative Ireland initiative facilitated by the Creative Ireland office will take place as follows:
