National Volunteering Week is an annual week dedicated to celebrating volunteering across Ireland. With events taking place all over the country, the network of Volunteer Centres, Volunteering Information Services and Volunteer Ireland will be highlighting the many benefits of volunteering and showing people the countless easy ways they can volunteer. Not to forget celebrating the people and organisations that give back to their local communities every day of the week! Originally just one day a year, since 2012 we have dedicated a whole week to promote and celebrate our fantastic culture of volunteering in Ireland.
Each year focuses on a different theme from inspiring people to volunteer to supporting organisations to involve volunteers. This year’s focus will be on the benefits volunteering can have on a person’s health and wellbeing. Volunteering has so many benefits but sometimes people don’t know where to start or just need a little extra support. With locations in every county, anyone can visit their local Volunteer Centre or Volunteering Information Service for free support, advice and to find out about volunteering opportunities in their area. We plan to use this week to spread the word far and wide so that anyone who wants to volunteer can volunteer.”
