Given that Sligo is the European Volunteering Capital for 2017 the Sligo’s Christian Churches would like to say ‘thank you’ to all the many volunteers who help in our Churches in so many ways. It has been decided to hold a special Service where the volunteers themselves would take the main roles. As a way of ‘thank you’ each Church participating would receive a commerative plaque.
The Churches participating include St John’s, Calry, St Anne’s and Rosses Point for the Church of Ireland. Sligo Methodist Church, Sligo Presbyterian Church and Sligo Redeemed Christian Church of God will participate. Also the nine Roman Catholic Churches of the Sligo Cluster will participate, Cathedral, St Joseph’s, Calry, St Anne’s, Carraroe, Rosses Point, Strandhill, Ransboro, and the Friary. In all sixteen plaques will be presented.
Some special guests will be in attendance but all are welcome! Readers, Speakers representing the Volunteers, and Choirs have been invited. Church Leaders will lead prayers.
Sligo Churches Together along Sligo County Council and the European Volunteering Capital steering group in Sligo invite you to a celebration of Church Volunteers in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Sligo on Thursday 26 October at 7.30pm. Choirs and Volunteers from Sligo’s main Christian Churches will participate. Tea will be served in the Presbyterian Church, Church St after the event. All are welcome.
